With a priceless artifact as your guide, you and Addie lead an expedition of stalwart explorers through long forgotten lands. These explorers are relying on you to create campsites for them to stay safe and warm as they brave the unknown.
Leo Carrillo State Park has 1.5 miles of beach for swimming, surfing, windsurfing, surf fishing and beachcombing. The beach also has tidepools, coastal caves and reefs for exploring. Giant sycamores shade the main campgrounds. The park also features back-country hiking.

While all of our campgrounds are first come, first served, there are a limited number of reservation campsites available at the Margaret McKenny Campground in Capitol Forest and the Elbe Hills ORV Campground in Elbe Hills.
Unless otherwise posted, you can stay 10 days in a 30-day period at any of DNR's campsites. During your stay, please practice leave no trace principles and pack out what you pack in. Quiet hours are between 10 p.m. and 7 a.m. Enjoy campfires in approved fire pits in designated campgrounds only.
Dispersed camping, camping outside of our designated campgrounds, is allowed in some of our forests. Dispersed camping is not allowed at day-use sites. Toilets, picnic tables, trash cans, drinking water, and fire pits are not available in the backcountry. Please follow Leave No Trace principles and pack out everything you pack in. Dispersed fires are prohibited.
HarvestingYou may harvest mushrooms, berries, floral greens, and other select resources for personal use only from some areas on DNR-managed lands. Harvesting of any forest products from DNR-managed campgrounds and picnic sites, natural area preserves or natural resources conservation areas is prohibited, unless the harvest is specifically included in the site's management plan. No reselling.
Camping permits in city campgrounds are issued for three (3) days or five (5) days only, depending on the park selected. Camping always begins on Friday and extends through the weekend ending on either Monday at 8am (3 days) or Wednesday at 8am (5 days). A valid camping permit is required to camp in all city campgrounds. Camping without a valid permit can incur penalties up to $500.00 and up to 30 days in prison. No camping is allowed on either Wednesday or Thursday. Not all parks have campgrounds.
The Department of Parks and Recreation has a no refund policy except if the campgrounds are closed by this Department (this policy is a condition of your permit). In the event of a campground closure directive, only the camp closure permittees will receive a refund check (via mail) within 90 days or more of the closure noticed. Permittees affected by a closure directive will be notified ASAP by email (contact number(s) may be used as well).Note: Access your camping account to update the following information: 1) Email, phone numbers for the purpose of emergency contact and2) Mailing address for the method in which the refund will be submitted.
Campgrounds vary and (only) consist of three day campgrounds (at a permit cost of $32.00 per campsite) and five day campgrounds (at a permit cost of $52.00 per campsite). 24hrs/48hrs camping permits are not available.
NOTICE: Vehicular camping is prohibited at City and County campgrounds. Only camping in tents in assigned, numbered campsites are allowed. Camping in vehicles is not allowed including camping trailers, cars, trucks, recreational vehicles, or vans. 2ff7e9595c
